Bookmarked Recipes 47

It is my pleasure to host this week's round up of Bookmarked Recipes.

Let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Psychgrad. I blog at Equal Opportunity Kitchen with my mom, Giz. We blog about a range of food-related topics, with a bit of mother-daughter sparring thrown in for good measure.

As always, this week's round up features some beautiful dishes.

First up is Tami's Kitchen Table Talk. She shares Spicy Orange Beef with Vegetables that she found on Family Corner.com. I think it's about time for another stirfry!

Maggie from Dog Hill Kitchen shares Dairy-Free TKOs (Tomas Keller Oreos), a recipe adapted from from Jumbo Empanadas' recipe for Baby TKOs. The original recipe comes from Thomas Keller in Essence of Chocolate. Looks like a knockout to me! (sorry...I couldn't resist the pun)

Next up is my Mamster's submission (I'm stealing Grace's name for her mom). Giz from Equal Opportunity Kitchen shows us the Baked Risotto with Asparagus, Spinach and Parmesan that she found from 3 Books in 1 - Appetizers, Party Food and Entertaining. What could be better than risotto that you don't have to stand over for 30 minutes?

Also from Equal Opportunity Kitchen, here are my Oatmeal Raisin Applesauce Cookies. Since we're all friends here, I'll be honest and say - they weren't the best cookie in the world. But, as far as healthier baked goods go, they're not bad. In case you're wondering what's up with the chocolate chips, I only had enough raisins for 50% of the cookies and used chocolate chips for the rest. Here's the original HubPages source for the recipe.

Ivy from Kopiaste shares the Falafel she made. The original recipe comes from Val at More than Burnt Toast. I loved reading Ivy's post about her experience at the market to find cilantro and chives - go check it out!

Also, check out the great work Galvy (my petname for Giz, Ivy and Val) is/are doing with BloggerAid to raise funds and awareness for world hunger.

Ben from What's Cooking shares a recipe for Whole-Wheat Quesadillas. The recipe comes from Ask Sasha.com. Ben's tortillas are filled with cuitlacoche and flor de calabaza, two ingredients that remind Ben of the food he ate while growing up in Central Mexico. Looks delicious. I think I need to take a week long course in Mexican cooking from you.

Also, check out Ben's Homemade Food Event. It's definitely an event in which I would like to participate in the near future! Ben will be posting his roundup for this month's theme, Homemade Bread, shortly. Stay tuned for next month's theme!

Last, but not least, is the hostess with the mostess: Ruth from Ruth's Kitchen Experiments. Ruth shares a Buttermilk Chicken recipe from Nigella Express. There's something about that juice coming of the front-most chicken leg that is making me very hungry.

Thanks everyone for your submissions!!! It's always exciting to see what people have been making and recreating as well as meeting some new bloggers.

Next week’s round up will be hosted by Ivy from Kopiaste.

Bookmarked Recipes 46

Here’s this week's round up of Bookmarked Recipes and this week we have some more great recipes from some more great bloggers. This week’s round up is being hosted by Cristie at Edible Antics - Having Fun With Food.

I'll start this week off with a fun, party recipe for Gorditas de papa from Ben at What's Cooking. Ben writes that this recipe is such a classic in Mexico that no one there bothers to write it down. But Ben did for us. Thanks Ben.
From Gaga In The Kitchen comes Gaga's recipe for banana nut biscotti. Gaga found the recipe on Culinary Adventures of a New Wife (who adapted it from Cooking Light). It's a great and different way to enjoy extra-ripe bananas!

Maggie of Dog Hill Kitchen baked an amazingly-gourmet, and surprisingly dairy-free, Black Forest Cake, -a birthday cake of love, chocolate, and rich, fruit flavors! The chocolate layer cake recipe was adapted from a recipe found at The Smitten Kitchen, and the French yogurt cake recipe was adapted from a recipe found at Orangette.

Elizabeth of Our Kitchen baked Pulla-Finnish Cardamom Bread. She got the recipe from Julie who contributed it to The Fresh Loaf. Julie says the recipe is her Finnish mother-in-law's and that freshly-crushed cardamom is the secret to making this extra-special bread.

Psychgrad at the Equal Opportunity Kitchen contributes a delicious and healthy recipe for honey, lemon salmon with roast vegetables. She found the recipe at the Dragon's Kitchen. It looks fabulous!

Another tasty main dish comes from the Happy Cook at My Kitchen Treasures. Here is a wonderful recipe for Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls originally found at My Kitchen Snippets. The Happy Cook writes that this recipe is a favorite of her daughter's. So file this one away when thinking of what healthy food to cook for kids.

Christine from Kit's Chow sends us a recipe to celebrate spring! Her spring soup has the fresh flavors of spinach, asparagus, peas, ginger, cilantro, and lime. It's tasty - and nutritious! She found the recipe in a back issue of the Donna Hay Magazine.

And lastly, here is my entry for an Angel Food Birthday Cake. It was light and sweet, wonderful with dark chocolate syrup and spumoni ice cream, - a real treat. I found the recipe in Grandma's Home Kitchen: Family recipes and traditions of Grandma's Swedish bakery. You can read more about it and see more pics at my blog, Edible Antics - Having Fun With Food.

Thanks everyone for your submissions!!! It's always exciting to see what people have been making and recreating as well as meeting some new bloggers.

Next week’s round up will be hosted by Psych Grad at Equal Opportunity Kitchen . That's it for this week.

Bookmarked Recipes 44

Here’s this week's round up of Bookmarked Recipes! This week we have some more great recipes from some more great bloggers. And your host this week is me, Joelen of Joelen's Culinary Adventures.

Name: Ruth of Ruth's Kitchen Experiments
Recipe: Red Velvet Cake
Original Source: (Equal Opportunity Dinner) More From Magnolia by Allysa Torey
Ruth starts us off with dessert! I'm been a fan of red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and this particular recipe looks delicious. Definitely check out Ruth's blog for the recipe and how she made this beautiful cake!

Name: Karen of Loves to Eat Weblog
Recipe: Bumpy Cake Cupcakes
Original Source: Food Network
Inspired by Sanders/Morley Candy Company, Karen creates these unique and deliciously chocolatey cupcakes. The recipes used to create this dessert were from Food Network and Karen does a great job combining them! Be sure to check out Karen's blog for the recipes!

Name: Sahaja of My Experiments in Kitchen
Recipe: Carrot Rice
Original Source: Sailaja Aunty, Sahaja's friend
Sahaja shares with us a recipe for a great variation to plain white rice... carrot rice! Not only is this a more colorful rice dish, the addition of coriander, lemon and curry make it even more flavorful. Check out Sahaja's blog for the recipe!

Name: James of The Coltswald Food Year
Recipe: Bailey's Ice Cream
Original Source: The book 'Ices - The Definitive Guide' by Caroline Liddell & Robin Weir
With St. Patrick's day coming up, James shares with us the fitting Bailey's Ice Cream! This looks super smooth and rich, and it has to be good when liquor is involved! Check out Jame's blog for the delicious recipe and for some great ice cream making tips!

Name: Christine of Kits Chow
Recipe: Ostiones Pimentados, Peppered Oysters
Original Source: The book Mexican Regional Cooking by Diana Kennedy
Christine highlights the power of pepper in this Mexican dish. Sometimes simple black pepper is underestimated but this dish of peppered oysters makes pepper the star! Check out Christine's blog for the recipe and some beautiful pictures of Mexico she shared too!

Name: Joelen of Joelen's Culinary Adventures
Recipe: Crabmeat Stuffed Sole
Original Source: Epicurious
For this blogging event, I wanted to share a fish dish since many folks may be looking toward seafood based dishes in this time of Lent. This was a recipe I bookmarked because fish doesn't have to be served baked, broiled, fried or grilled. Stuffing fish is also a great way to prepare it! Feel free to check out my blog for the recipe and try stuffing your fish for something different!

Bookmarked Recipes 43

Here’s this week's round up of Bookmarked Recipes and this week we have some more great recipes from some more great bloggers. This week’s round up is being hosted by Marci of pieces.

First up is Christine of Kits Chow, who made Soup of the Bakony Outlaws. She used chicken instead of veal in this Hungarian inspired soup, which she discovered at Fine Cooking. Although she found the soup by accident, it's a keeper.

Next we have Maggie from Dog Hill Kitchen with Black Bean "Tacos" with Smoked Paprika Shiitake Mushrooms. She adapted this recipe from Weight Watchers' Shrimp over Cumin-Scented Beans. They look amazingly tasty (paprika! chile pepper! cumin! cilantro!) and are only 4 WW points per serving!

Our next submission comes from Ben at What's Cooking. He created the Avocado Salad his parents used to serve at their restaurant during Lent. It's a simply, healthy dish that looks to be full of flavor.

And finally, Ruth's entry this week is the Soy Honey Cocktail Sausages that she discovered in Nigella Express. They were such a big hit that she had to make a second batch!

Thanks everyone for your submissions!!! It's always exciting to see what people have been making and recreating as well as meeting some new bloggers.
